The World Health Organization recently launched a one-year global campaign, "Commit to Quit", for the World No Tobacco Day 2021.
The saying goes that “quitters never win,” but in the case of tobacco, quitters are the real winners.
When the news came out that smokers were more likely to develop severe disease with COVID-19 compared to non-smokers, it triggered millions of smokers to want to quit tobacco. However, without adequate support, quitting can be incredibly challenging.
Globally, some 780 million people say they want to quit smoking, but only 30% have access to the tools that can help them overcome their physical and mental addiction to tobacco. More info on the WHO website.
